Homemade Vanilla Extract


All purpose Vanilla Extract
1- 8 oz. glass jar, with a lid
7 oz. Light Rum
4 Vanilla Beans

Sanitize the jar, by boiling in water for 15 minutes, or placing in a 400 degree oven for 30 minutes.
Slice the Vanilla Beans down the center lengthwise and place into sanitized jar. Pour Rum over the beans and close up with lid. Turn the jar over once or twice to mix the ingredients.
Store in a cool, dark space and let the Vanilla infuse the Rum for at least 4 weeks. Lightly shake the jar every once in a while.
Replace used Vanilla Extract by adding more Rum and or Vanilla beans as needed.

4 Vanilla Beans
